Dine and dash…in historic Georgetown! History and your taste-buds come alive during this guided walkabout through the cobblestone streets of Washington’s oldest neighborhood, with stops to experience the delicious cuisines of multi-starred eateries. Your 3½ hour walking tour will be led by historians with an expertise in local ghosts, gossip and gastronomy, taking you past pre-Revolutionary and Federalist buildings with an abundance of architectural insights and stories of former occupants, including Thomas Jefferson and Francis Scott Key. It’s Georgetown so you’re never far from an exquisite bite or a reviving drink–where else can you get a slice of history and cheesecake all at the same time?

Every breath you take, every photo you make… The Police guitarist Andy Summers’ impressive second career as a photographer is chronicled in his latest book Desirer Walks the Streets, a collection of black and white images from 25 years as a traveling musician. This week at the National Geographic Society auditorium, Summers shares the stories behind his riveting images. Later, enjoy dinner and dancing at Panache Restaurant, serving up Mediterranean-style tapas before the tables are cleared for late-night dancing. Next-door parking included in this night of art and music.

The story behind the legend of Broadway’s original Second-Hand Rose… The life, loves and songs of Ziegfeld Follies comedienne Fanny Brice come alive in this performance by Esther Covington who carries the one-woman show with charisma and charm. This American Century Theatre Co. production plays at the new Spectrum Theater @ Artisphere in Rosslyn. Refreshments provided at intermission. Afterwards, enjoy live music and sample 20+ rare and hard-to-find beers on tap, including the devilishly refreshing Lucifer Belgian Ale, at nearby Galaxy Hut.

A “barnburner” of an evening for classical music fans… Lauded for “luxurious, beautifully sculptured performances,” New York-based American String Quartet makes a rare Washington-area appearance in a single sold-out show at the Barns of Wolf Trap. Founded in the 1970s by four Juilliard classmates, they are considered one of the finest classical groups performing today. Fresh from touring China and Israel, this show includes the artistry of pianist Menahem Pressler of the legendary Beaux Arts Trio. DateNight includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served at the Barns.
