Volunteering

Horse Rescue Relief was founded on the premise that each of us has a calling — a special reason for being here and for giving of our time, talents, and resources. With the right people to influence us, we all eventually find our own.

I’m Troy Dunne, Chairman of Horse Rescue Relief. When I founded this organization, I did so after volunteering my time at horse rescues around Southern California, where I live. Each one of the volunteers I met impressed me. They were all such kind and generous people, giving of themselves, their resources, and their experience.

One facility, in particular, found a place in my heart: White Rock Horse Rescue … “Where it’s all about the horse.” Overseen by Isabel Megli, their dedicated, hard-working founder and CEO, the volunteers at White Rock Horse Rescue worked endlessly to provide a safe place for horses that would otherwise be neglected or abandoned and left to die. She had a skill like none I’ve ever seen before. If there was ever a “Horse Whisperer”, Isabel was it. She knew horses. She knew what they needed, and she was making sure they got exactly that.

But, people like Isabel, with the biggest hearts and the most practical experience caring for these displaced animals, should not be burdened with the additional task of finding ways to finance horse rescue operations. That task should be left to business-minded folks whose calling is finding ways to raise the money and other resources necessary to help folks like Isabel do what she does best — save and care for displaced and neglected horses.

After spending many days, organizing labor forces to help out at the ranch (clean up the stalls, walk the horses, and repair the corrals) I found my calling. I am a business man whose talents and experience can be used to rally cooperation from individuals and organizations who desire to help to help our cause. That’s why I organized Horse Rescue Relief.

With your help, we can assist caretakers like Isabel, providing them with what they need to ensure these amazing animals are cared for. That’s where you come in. While we will be seeking financial assistance to aid horse rescue operations, your calling may not be a financial one. Perhaps you’d like to volunteer to spend time with the horses, petting them, riding and exercising them, making sure they are bathed and well-groomed, and that their stalls are clean.

It doesn’t matter what your calling is, your help is needed. It doesn’t matter how much time you have to give, your time means something to a horse in need, and to people like Isabel who struggle daily to provide rescued horses with what they need to survive.

We all have a calling, and each is different. If you find yours in the equine world, volunteering at Horse Rescue Relief might be your path. And, a rewarding one it will be. Nothing feels better than giving of yourself to another being in need. This I know from experience. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help, contact me today. You’ll be glad you did.
