Feed the Hungry
Feed the Hungry is a joint initiative between members of the Jewish community of Ahavat Olam and the Muslim community of the Masjid ul-Haqq Mosque. Once a month, a group of about 20 volunteers prepares a meal for close to 200 people, and serves it at the First United Church Mission at Gore and Hastings.
The Feed the Hungry rose from discussion groups between members of the Masjid ul-Haqq Mosque and Congregation Ahavat Olam, along with representatives of other faiths. The project brings local Muslims and Jews together to build bridges across the faiths traditionally more known for their mutual distrust and suspicion.
